01/18/2017 11:59 am EST

When Tommy and Billy ran into a statue of Rita Repulsa and an unnamed Power Ranger, you knew that this world had a few surprises in store for them. That extends to the big reveal of who runs this dark dimension, who up to this point has been known as Lord Drakkon.

Spoilers incoming for issue #11 of Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, so if you haven't read it yet you've been warned.

The issue starts out with Tommy and Billy, who were transported to his mysterious place after dismantling the Black Dragon from his control center, attempting to find some landmarks. They start with Angel Grove High, which is now a detention center, and later head on to their headquarters. What they find there is surprising, to say the least, but when they emerge they are greeted by the unknown Power Ranger.

Last chance...

After some banter back and forth, the Ranger removes his helmet to reveal a mirrored version of Tommy, who's now got gray in his hair and dark veins going up his neck and face. You can view the spoiler image in the gallery.

ComicBook.com talked to writer Kyle Higgins abut the big reveal, including if Tommy was the only choice, or if there were other options along the way?

"Yeah, from a character arc standpoint, this story was designed as something of a cautionary tale for Tommy-- what could have happened had he never left Rita's side? The first year has been about Tommy's introduction to the team, and I thought it felt nice for things to culminate with a look in the dark mirror that could also setup our future stories for the other Rangers and the universe."

Higgins also teased that fans will be getting to know a lot more about this Tommy's history as the book goes along, saying "Oh yeah. Definitely. In fact, that's my favorite part of this story. How Drakkon came to be-- and how he's different from our Tommy-- was a blast to develop, and it's going to be big going forward."
