Is The Power Rangers Theme In The New Movie?

It's time to go, go Power Rangers! In the coming months, Lionsgate is expected to pick up on adverts for their upcoming release, Power Rangers. The new film will adapt the original Mighty Morphin Power Rangers series from the 1990s, but fans should not expect everything to be as they remember it. So far, footage and images from the film have revealed how the studio is reimagining the nostalgic classic, so fans are curious (and scared) to learn whether the show's original theme will be in Power Rangers.

So far, it looks like the answer is yes. Well, mostly.

In a report by The Wrap, the site writes that Power Rangers has plans to resurrect the immensely catchy tunes. In the most recent trailer for the movie, fans were teased with a snippet of the theme, but it did sound notably different from the metal guitar solos fans embraced decades ago.

However, when it comes to notation and rhythm, it looks like "Go Go Power Rangers" is a go for Lionsgate. Not long ago, the fansite Power Scoop caught wind of an Instagram post by a member of London's Philharmonic Orchestra. The musician shared a picture from a recording session for the movie, and fans can see the sheet music she's using belongs to the classic theme song.

With that said, there is no guarantee the original theme song will make it into the movie itself. The orchestral version may be saved for the movie's soundtrack or perhaps used to fill in the end credits of Power Rangers.

What is your take on the theme song and its possible inclusion in 2017's Power Rangers? Do you want the recording to make it into the movie, or would you rather have Lionsgate give the original theme a millennial update?

"Saban's Power Rangers follows five ordinary teens who must become something extraordinary when they learn that their small town of Angel Grove - and the world - is on the verge of being obliterated by an alien threat. Chosen by destiny, our heroes quickly discover they are the only ones who can save the planet. But to do so, they will have to overcome their real-life issues and before it's too late, band together as the Power Rangers."

Power Rangers stars Bryan Cranston (Zordon), Elizabeth Banks (Rita Repulsa), Naomi Scott (Kimberly/Pink Ranger), David Denman (Sam Scott), Becky G. (Trini/Yellow Ranger), Sarah Grey (Amanda), RJ Cyler (Billy Cranston/Blue Ranger), Emily Maddison (Rebecca), Ludi Lin (Zack Taylor/Black Ranger), and Dacre Montgomery (Jason Lee Scott/Red Ranger).
