New Mystery Power Ranger's Name Revealed

Rita Repulsa is the least of the Rangers problems, as they've recently learned of a new threat that looks an awful lot like them.

In Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, writer Kyle Higgins and artist Hendry Prasetya introduced a new Ranger that lives in the dark dimension, a place that Tommy and Billy now find themselves trapped in. While the identity of the Ranger will be revealed in issue #11, the Ranger's name has been revealed as Lord Drakkon.

Fans will finally get to know the person behind the name in the upcoming issue, which Higgins promises will be big (via IGN).

"With the reveal of our new, dark Ranger, this world, and the Ranger Sentries that police it… I think it's safe to say we're officially hitting our stride on our original goal: doing some new, exciting things with the concept of Power Rangers, playing to the strengths of the monthly comics medium, while staying respectful of what's come before. Our first year of stories has been building to this one, and really… it's just the beginning for what we've got planned. 2017 is going to be a massive year for Mighty Morphin Power Rangers," Higgins said.

Mighty Morphin Power Rangers #11 hits stores on January 18, 2017. You can view a preview of the issue in the gallery.

"Saban's Power Rangers follows five ordinary teens who must become something extraordinary when they learn that their small town of Angel Grove - and the world - is on the verge of being obliterated by an alien threat. Chosen by destiny, our heroes quickly discover they are the only ones who can save the planet. But to do so, they will have to overcome their real-life issues and before it's too late, band together as the Power Rangers."

Power Rangers stars Bryan Cranston (Zordon), Elizabeth Banks (Rita Repulsa), Naomi Scott (Kimberly/Pink Ranger), David Denman (Sam Scott), Becky G. (Trini/Yellow Ranger), Sarah Grey (Amanda), RJ Cyler (Billy Cranston/Blue Ranger), Emily Maddison (Rebecca), Ludi Lin (Zack Taylor/Black Ranger), and Dacre Montgomery (Jason Lee Scott/Red Ranger).

Power Rangers is set to land in theaters on March 24, 2017.
