Power Rangers: Alpha's Abilities Possibly Revealed

"Aye-yi-yi!"

In the original Mighty Morphin Power Rangers television series, the loyal and chipper robot Alpha 5 mainly provided assistance to the Rangers and their mentor, Zordon, from the Command Center. The easily-excitable character had a saucer-shaped head, red-and-blue color scheme, a big yellow lightning bolt on its chest, and was voiced by Richard Wood.

However, for the 2017 feature film, Alpha 5 is getting a more exterrestrial-like makeover and is being voiced by Saturday Night Live alum Bill Hader — who also co-voiced of BB-8 in Star Wars: The Force Awakens. So, what else is new about his version of the lovable robot?

Umberto Gonzalez of The Wrap reports: "Bill Hader's Alpha 5 is a robot with a supple metallic body and is able to mutate into different designs to maximize his role."

Saban's Power Rangers follows five ordinary teens who must become something extraordinary when they learn that their small town of Angel Grove - and the world - is on the verge of being obliterated by an alien threat. Chosen by destiny, our heroes quickly discover they are the only ones who can save the planet. But to do so, they will have to overcome their real-life issues and before it's too late, band together as the Power Rangers.

Saban's Power Rangers stars Dacre Montgomery as Jason Lee Scott/the Red Ranger, RJ Cyler as Billy Cranston/the Blue Ranger, Becky G as Trini Kwan/the Yellow Ranger, Ludi Lin as Zack Taylor/the Black Ranger, Naomi Scott as Kimberly Hart/the Pink Ranger, Elizabeth Banks as Rita Repulsa, Bill Hader as Alpha 5, and Bryan Cranston as Zordon.

The film is being directed by Project Almanac-helmer Dean Israelite and was written by Ashley Miller and Zack Stentz.
