Power Rangers' Jason David Frank Forgives Kimberly For Her Breakup Letter

There are few couples more beloved than Tommy and Kimberly, and, as Jason David Frank has revealed, few as epically brutal.

Frank had a chance recently to sit down with ET's Ash Crossan to talk about a variety of things, including why Tommy and Kimberly didn't work out and filming that memorable Power Rangers scene.

"Well, Kimberly wrote me that letter," Frank said. "Kimberly, you wrote me that freaking letter. It was, I did do that scene and people were really moved with the emotions of that scene. Then I got Katherine, which was great, but as Tommy, I was thinking "hey look, no girls, no second girlfriend, why does it have to be Tommy." It was alright. I moved on. Kimberly I forgive you. I forgive you Kimberly."

Kimberly broke up with Tommy with a letter in Power Rangers Zeo, which Tommy then had to read with all of the other Rangers around. Pretty brutal moment, especially when you consider how close the characters were.

The two actors behind the characters reunited recently in a cameo for the Power Rangers reboot. Frank explained how that came about.

"He called me up and said 'Hey, you know I'm with Lionsgate. We'd love to have you and Amy back in the movie.' We filmed the first cameo. It didn't work out as it was planned, but it is in the Blu-ray version of it, so we did two cameos. I did a cameo with long hair, brought the ponytail back for people to go "whoa", that's on the Blu-ray version, and then I cut my hair and did the second cameo."

Frank also explained how filming a cameo is different than what he's used to with Power Rangers, which makes sense when you consider how prevalent he's been in the show's past.

"So I haven't seen Amy in fifteen years, and here we are doing a reboot movie and we have this cameo, and you know, it was different because a cameo is just a cameo. Normally when we did the movie it was like filming every single day but it was great to be a part of it and fans went crazy. People sat around the world in theaters going 'Whoa', and then the little kids were going crazy too but then the little kids who didn't know wanted to know who they are so they went back and rewatched Power Rangers episodes."
