When Lionsgate announced it was developing a live-action adaptation of Saban's Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, fans began speculating who would be cast as the teenage superheroes. Their curiosity was satisfied gradually as casting announcements broke, and fans were particularly interested to learn that RJ Cyler was hired to play Billy Cranston. The Blue Ranger is one of the most iconic team members from the original TV series, and Cyler had big shoes to fill. Now, the actor has revealed how he fit into the big-scale project and what advice he received from the first Rangers.

Recently, Cyler appeared in a slew of story videos on the the Power Rangers Instagram, and it was there that a fan asked him whether he'd received advice from the original Rangers.

"Yeah," he said. "Me and David [Yost] talk about, and he gives me advice and encouragement. And Jason David Frank is always [giving me] motivation."

The actor also took time to answer a few other fan questions about his history with Power Rangers. Cyler revealed which Ranger he would be if he had to ditch the blue suit, and his answer is wholly unsurprising.

"If I had to choose another Ranger, it would be the red one because red is my favorite color," he said.

However, it does look like the Blue Ranger has always been a favorite of Cyler. The actor said he had been fond of the character since he was a kid. He told fans, "My favorite Ranger as a kid was the blue one. I always used to dress up as the blue one on Halloween."

"Saban's Power Rangers follows five ordinary teens who must become something extraordinary when they learn that their small town of Angel Grove - and the world - is on the verge of being obliterated by an alien threat. Chosen by destiny, our heroes quickly discover they are the only ones who can save the planet. But to do so, they will have to overcome their real-life issues and before it's too late, band together as the Power Rangers."

Power Rangers stars Bryan Cranston (Zordon), Elizabeth Banks (Rita Repulsa), Naomi Scott (Kimberly/Pink Ranger), David Denman (Sam Scott), Becky G. (Trini/Yellow Ranger), Sarah Grey (Amanda), RJ Cyler (Billy Cranston/Blue Ranger), Emily Maddison (Rebecca), Ludi Lin (Zack Taylor/Black Ranger), and Dacre Montgomery (Jason Lee Scott/Red Ranger).
