IDW Publishing has officially revealed the first details for their upcoming Star Trek: Discovery comic book series.
The first issue of the new Star Trek: Discovery series will hit comic book stores on October 25, about one month after the new Star Trek series debuts.
The series will be written by Michael Johnson, a veteran of IDW's Star Trek comics line, and Kristen Beyer, a writer on Star Trek: Discovery who has been tasked with overseeing the series' multimedia tie-ins. Tony Shasteen, who worked with Johnson on IDW's Star Trek: Boldly Go series, will draw the book.
IDW didn't offer much in the way of plot details for fear of spoiling the show before its debut. Here's the solicitation text for the first issue:

Star Trek: Discovery is headed to this week's Comic-Con International: San Diego. Sonequa Martin-Green, Jason Isaacs, Doug Jones, Shazad Latif, Mary Wiseman, Anthony Rapp, and James Frain will all be in attendance, alongside Executive Producers Alex Kurtzman, Gretchen J. Berg, Aaron Harberts, Heather Kadin, and Akiva Goldsman for a panel moderated by guest star Rainn Wilson, who plays Star Trek: The Original Series character Harry Mudd on Star Trek: Discovery.
