Carrie Fisher's Daughter Billie Lourd Has Bigger Role In Star Wars: Episode VIII

When Star Wars: Episode VII - The Force Awakens hit theaters last year, a slew of fans were quick to spot a rather fun easter egg. One of the female lieutenants with the Resistance was seen sporting a familiar hairstyle to General Leia Organa, and the actress looked very familiar. The cameo character was played by Billie Lourd, the daughter of Carrie Fisher. Now, the actress is talking about her work in the Star Wars universe, and fans should expect to see much more of her Kaydel Ko Connix in Star Wars: Episode VIII.

Recently, Lourd did an interview where she spoke about her upcoming role in Scream Queens, and it was there that the actress dished details about her role. Lourd was quick to praise directors like J.J. Abrams and Rian Johnson, and she also said she would have a bigger role in Episode VIII.
"Connix is back and better than ever," she teased. More than one line, she was asked. "Yes. I might get arrested now!"
So far, there is little known about how Lourd will fit into Episode VIII, but her appearance signals the reappearance of the Resistance. Kaydel Ko Connix was a dedicated member of the organization, so her return may mean moviegoers will revisit D'Qar or other Resistance bases.
Lourd also talked about working with her mother, and how they were constantly concerned for each other during the shooting of Force Awakens.
"On this film, on 8, we got more into the swing of things, and had a really good time together," Lourd said.
Star Wars: Episode VIII is written and directed by Rian Johnson, continuing the saga films. Star Wars expands their universe with Rogue One, the first of their new standalone movies that take place without a focus on anyone named Skywalker.

Rogue One: A Star Wars Story hits US theaters December 16, 2016. Directed by Gareth Edwards, it's the first of the new standalone features from Lucasfilm and Disney, which take place outside the core "Skywalker Saga" of films noted by an Episode number. Rogue Onetells the story of the small band of rebels that were tasked with stealing the plans to the first Death Star. The story spins directly off the opening crawl from the original Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope. In that crawl, it read: "Rebel spaceships, striking from a hidden base, have won their first victory against the evil Galactic Empire. During the battle, Rebel spies managed to steal secret plans to the Empire's ultimate weapon, the DEATH STAR, an armored space station with enough power to destroy an entire planet."
Rogue One: A Star Wars Story is in theaters today.
