Warwick Davis Scorches Harrison Ford With Plane Joke At Star Wars Celebration

During a very special 40th anniversary panel at Star Wars Celebration in Orlando, many of the biggest stars from the franchise joined host Warwick Davis on stage. Much to the surprise of the audience, Harrison Ford took the stage to join Mark Hamill, George Lucas, Anthony Daniels, Billy Dee Williams, and Peter Mayhew.

It was clear that the actors on stage were happy to be there, joking with one another and even taking opportunities to tease. Perhaps no joke got a better reaction from the audience than when Davis made light of Ford's real-life abilities as a pilot, having recently gotten into some hot water over landing his plane dangerously close to passenger aircraft on a runway.

Many of the guests who had taken the stage had been previously announced, resulting in Ford getting one of the loudest receptions of the entire event. In regards to how secretive his appearance was, Davis couldn't help but get in a good jab about Ford's piloting skills.

"I can't believe we managed to keep it a secret considering you landed your plane on I-4," Davis joked.

Back in February, Ford was involved in an incident that the Federal Aviation Administration described as "potentially serious" when Ford attempted to land his plane at the Orange County airport.

The FAA issued the following statement about the incident:

"Air traffic controllers cleared the pilot of a single-engine Aviat Husky to land on Runway 20L at John Wayne Airport Monday afternoon. The pilot correctly read back the clearance. The pilot then landed on a taxiway that runs parallel to the runway, overflying a Boeing 737 that was holding short of the runway. The FAA is investigating this incident."

Ford handled the ribbing in good nature, and went on to note about playing Solo, "It was the beginning of an incredible ride." Ford added, "It's been a good ride."

Later in the panel, George Lucas got in on the teasing, mentioning that he wanted to cast Ford because of his skills as a "pilot."

Ford replied, "Flying? Yeah. Landing? No."
