Mark Hamill Provides 'Proof' He's Tall Enough to Be A Stormtrooper

Audiences were aware that Luke Skywalker and Han Solo went undercover to rescue Princess Leia on the Death Star, but she wasn't aware, causing her first line when seeing Luke in his disguise to be, "Aren't you a little short for a Stormtrooper?" Skywalker himself, Mark Hamill, took to Twitter today to share his conclusive "evidence" that his character stands above the Empire's elite.

Granted, relative measurements of an action figure are far from scientific, but measuring in at 5'9", the actor had no problem poking fun at his stature.

Prior to the prequel trilogy, fans were relatively in the dark about the type of person under those Stormtrooper helmets, with Attack of the Clones and Revenge of the Sith finally giving us some answers.

Attack of the Clones showed the development of a clone army whose genetic makeup came from bounty hunter Jango Fett, played by Temuera Morrisson. This clone army helped create the foundation of the Empire's military faction, with its early stages being comprised of Jango clones.

Morrisson himself is 5'7", which means that the first clones and subsequently, at least a portion of the Empire's Stormtroopers, were actually shorter than Luke.

We'll next see Luke when The Last Jedi hits theaters on December 15.
