Fear The Walking Dead: Danay Garcia Teases Luciana's Bloody Season 3 Return

01/15/2017 03:23 pm EST

One of Fear the Walking Dead's most beloved character is played one of the show's newest cast members. Having been on the show for less than one entire season, Danay Garcia's Luciana helped turn the second half of Fear the Walking Dead's second season into dont-miss-TV.

To end the second season, Garcia's Luciana was left to an ambigious fate. After rallying her Colonia community in Tijuana, Luciana lead the bunch of survivors to the American border with Nick. When they arrived at the border, the group did not find what they were looking for. Instead, a militia attacked them, gunning down the innocent members of the group and shooting Luciana in the shoulder.

While Garcia has previously confirmed that her character will survive the shot and continue to play a role in the show's third season, fans still don't know what to expect when they see her again.

Garcia recently returned to Baja, Mexico with the cast and crew of the AMC series to begin production on Fear's third season. She took to Instagram to tease a bloody return with the returning episode's script, though she did manage to hide its title.

"I think it's massive obviously, and anything that has to do with an apocalypse, the moment you're settled, that's when everything ends," Garcia tells ComicBook.com about the new group's impact. "Yeah, the fact that I got shot, I think obviously I'm going to recover and obviously I'm going to be affected by these people that had killed some of my people. Some are run away and some of them are dead. This huge massive issue of resentment towards them because, first of all, I don't know who they are. They are not my family. I've never seen them. Nick has never seen them. They are complete strangers that just took over our existence, and I'm very interested in seeing how she is going to deal with this because this is a completely different animal."

"These are military people. They are Americans. They are fully equipped," Garcia said. "They have all the equipment to kill me on the spot. We're not fighting with a stick and a knife. This is serious. These people are trying to do this in a war, so I have to use both tactics to survive. That would be the mind and negotiations. I don't know how she's going to get out of it, but I'm interested to se how she's going to overcome this monster. How she's going to overcome her fears, her obstacles. Whatever comes at her, how she's going to maneuver that and how Nick is going to adapt to that and how I'm going to adapt to that. That is very exciting because it's a complete different ball game."
