The Walking Dead: Christian Serratos On Potential Rosita And Eugene Love Story

11/13/2016 11:30 am EST

Sunday's new episode of The Walking Dead lays the groundwork for several comic book story lines to be realized on television.

With the coming episodes of AMC's hit series adapting the best known issues of the Skybound/Image Comics series, many fans are expecting war, death, intense dialogue, and some new relationships. Among the latest is a relationship between Rosita and Eugene.

The Walking Dead tends to deviate from the comic from time to time, the most prominent example being Rick's relationship with Michonne seeming to fill in for his romance with Andrea in the books, but in the grand scheme the live-action adaptation follows the groundwork laid out in the books.

The love story between Rosita and Eugene spawns shortly after Abraham's death and while it is short-lived, it's a pivotal part of each character's development. Whether or not it will come to TV is still up in the air for fans, so ComicBook.com posed the question to one woman who would know best.

Rosita actress Christian Serratos says Rosita and Eugene finding love is entirely possible on the AMC series. She does, however, warn that she may not have the knowledge we seek just yet.

"We talk about all the [comic] storylines on set like little kids getting fascinated to see where the show is going to go and what's going to happen," Serratos said. "We're not lying when we say we really get no information. We have no idea what's going to happen on the show. We have no idea what's going to happen episode to episode. We wait patiently with everyone else."

After her warning, Serratos opened up about the potential love story.

"I think that would be really interesting," Serratos said. "I also think it would be interesting if that didn't happen. Scott Gimple has a really amazing way of keeping very true to the comic while also keeping it very interesting, meaning he doesn't necessarily put everything that happens in the comic book in the show. There's definitely a spin on the show, and I think that's what's really interesting and what keeps people fascinated is that they really don't know what's coming next, even when they think they do."

Of course, Rosita had a few obstacles in her way before accepting her feelings for Eugene in the comics. Not only was Eugene the best friend of her dead ex-boyfriend but she also had a problem with his physical appearance.

"I don't think that's something that would be included in the show," Serratos said. "I think if there was a romance between Eugene and Rosita, it would be very natural because they have such an unspoken bond on the show already. I definitely wouldn't think that would be weird for them to get together at all. I think it would be a very special thing."
