The Walking Dead: New Speculation Points To A Surprising Victim For Negan's Kill

09/09/2016 02:00 pm EDT

All off-season long theories about The Walking Dead cast member who will be leaving the show upon its return have been circulating around the Internet.

The most popular guesses based on comment sections have been Glenn, Abraham, and Daryl. In fact, a recent poll of the Comicbook.com audience settled on a vote of 34% of fans putting their money on Glenn getting the bet and 32% believing it will be Abraham. In any case, other characters have garnered little attention when the conversation comes up.

Of the eleven potential victims, several have been spotted on set filming new scenes post-Negan intro over the past few months, including Ross Marquand, Andrew Lincoln, Norman Reedus, Christian Serratos, and Chandler Riggs.

Lincoln and Riggs are no surprise, given Negan's, "cut the boy's other eye out and feed it to his father" line but the rest seem to indicate some form of safety for certain characters heading into the new season.

Gurira sightings have been rare and the actress recently landed a role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe's upcoming Black Panther film, prompting speculation that her character of Michonne will be obliterated in front of the rest of the squad.

However, Gurira isn't the most popular theory taking the Internet today.

It's Lauren Cohan's Maggie who is being picked by fans as the victim for several reasons.

Not only has Cohan apparently been absent according to the eyes of spies on set but Greg Nicotero recently slipped up and implied that there will be more than one death in The Walking Dead's season 7 premiere. Most fans jumped to the conclusion that this meant two of the eleven members of Alexandria but, after some thought, the speculation turned to "deaths" meaning Maggie and her unborn baby.

The aforementioned facts about Maggie paired with Cohan posting photos on Instagram from everywhere but Atlanta have even lead TV Guide to claim, "It's probably Maggie."

Though, it's probably not.

Glenn was on the receiving end of the infamous Lucille swing in The Walking Dead comics which gives Steven Yeun's character first dibs on the TV adaptation of the death. Abraham has already outlasted his comic book counterpart when we saw his arrow-through-the-face death handed off to Denise late in season 6 which could either spell trouble for Big Red or mean he is around for the long haul. If any one (or two) is going to go out with this bang, they will likely be selected from this pool of two characters.

In any case, the victim's identity has been a well kept secret throughout the off-season as the guesses continue to shift as shown by this article. We'll find out for sure when The Walking Dead returns for its seventh season on October 23 are 9 PM ET on AMC.
