The Walking Dead: Norman Reedus Reveals Big Change In Daryl Coming

01/20/2017 11:16 am EST

When The Walking Dead returns from its midseason hiatus, the group will finally set their sights on Negan and begin plotting to overthrow their oppressor. Rick Grimes will look to rally Alexandria with the Hilltop and Kingdom communities in an effort to have sufficient numbers to stop the bad guy.

According to Norman Reedus, his Daryl Dixon character will quickly be on board with such a plan after spending much of the season humbled and humiliated. He is flat out on a mission of revenge.

"He wants revenge," Reedus said in an interview with EW. "He's ready to fight. When he goes back in that last episode and hands Rick back his stuff, it was like, 'Let's go! Let's go beat this guy up. Let's go take what's ours and fight this monster.' So, you know, he's in kill mode."

Daryl has had plenty of time to do nothing but think about how he will achieve such revenge. For much of Season 7, he was treated like an abused dog in a cage at Negan's Sanctuary and his hatred was only fueled.

"I feel like he spent his time in the hole thinking about Glenn and thinking about Abraham," Reedus said. "He took it very personal, and felt like it was his fault and he was deserving what he was getting." But watch out Negan, because that version of Daryl is no more. "Now he's ready to get revenge. He's ready to go kill everybody."

Reedus even went as far as teasing his band of survivors having the upper hand and striking a touch of fear into their enemies who have clearly been in control, thus far. "I think you're going to start to see a little fear in that bad guy's eyes," Reedus said. "He's been walking tall long enough wielding his little toy bat around. Time to bring that guy down a notch."

Fans of The Walking Dead comics are expecting some epic showdowns between Negan's Saviors and Rick's survivors. They may be coming up sooner than later, as Reedus says the rest of Season 7 will be "consistently loud."

While speaking to ComicBook.com, Reedus went into a bit more detail about those battles.

"There are a bunch of groups, and like everything on this show, everything comes to a head eventually," Reedus said. "There are definitely scenes shot that are as epic and as large."

"It's crazy."
