Game Of Thrones Star Discusses Their Traumatic Nude Scene

Kristian Nairn, the actor who played Hodor through six seasons of HBO's Game of Thrones, has opened up about his experiences on the show, specifically what it was like filming his nude scene in the show's first season.

When asked about his most memorable experiences filming Game of Thrones, Nairn pointed towards Hodor's death scenes and the nude scene, which he said was a particularly awkward and trying experience.

"Obviously the death scene and the nude scene, which was probably the most traumatic day of my life," Nairn tells the Belfast Telegraph. "I never thought I would be parading round Carryduff in the nip without being arrested at least!

"I had added layers of humiliation - we had this massive prosthetic and it had to be attached to my body with glue and it's actually glued into your own region. That did not come out quickly, I'm telling you! I felt sorry for the make-up girl - these things you suffer for your art! That was one of the worst and funniest experiences."

There are plenty of other Game of Thrones actors who likely have harrowing nude scene stories to tell, thought the use of a prosthetic on Nairn may make his somewhat exceptional.

Fans may remember that the scene took place in the eighth season of the series, titled "The Point End." During the scene, Bran Stark (Issac Hempstead Wright) and the wildling Osha (Natalia Tena) were having a tense conversation when Hodor wandered in completely nude and with his full manhood on display, reciting his single repeated line of "Hodor."

Hodor died while protecting Bran's party from the wights that were swarming the cave of the Three-Eyed Raven. It was revealed that Hodor became who he is and started reciting the word when, as a boy, he was exposed to some kind of temporal feedback because Bran was visiting the past while Hodor was being told to "hold the door."

Based on the popular book series A Song of Ice and Fire, by George R.R. Martin, the Emmy-winning fantasy series Game of Thrones chronicles an epic struggle for power in a vast and violent kingdom.
