House Of Cards Season 5 Trailer Released

Netflix has released the trailer for House of Cards Season 5.

The trailer includes many intrigue shots from the next season of Netflix's political drama. President Frank Underwood (Kevin Spacey) monologs over the visuals, revealing that he plans to become president indefinitely.

House of Cards is a "wicked political drama" that "slithers beneath the curtain and through the back halls of greed, sex, love, and corruption in modern Washington D.C."

Set in the modern day, House of Cards has followed Frank Underwood as he has risen from being the Democratic representative from South Carolina's 5th District and House Majority Whip to become Vice President of the United States and now President of the United States.

House of Cards Season 5 will see Underwood running for reelection with his wife, Claire Underwood (Robin Wright) as his running mate. His opponent will be Republican Governor Will Conway of New York (Joel Kinnaman), who debuted on the series last season but was revealed to have a had at least one previous encounter with the Underwoods.

The trailer certainly seems to hint that the Underwoods will win their reelection bid, though nothing is for certain in a series with as many twists and turns as House of Cards.

Netflix's House of Cards was created by Beau Willimon. The series is an adaptation of the BBC's House of Cards miniseries, which itself was an adaptation of Michael Dobb's House of Cards novel. Willimon served as showrunner through the first four season of House of Cards but stepped down as of the fifth season. Melissa James Gibson and Frank Pugliese will act as co-showrunners for House of Cards Season 5.

House of Cards began filming in July 2016. Principal photography wrapped on Season 5 on February 14, 2017.

House of Cards broke new ground for original streaming television content. The series was Netflix's first ever original series. Its success has led Netflix to become a television leader and encourage other streaming services to also develop original content.

In addition to being critically acclaimed, House of Cards was the first original online-only television series to receive a major Emmy nomination. It has received a total of 33 Emmy nominations so far, as well as eight Golden Globe Award nomination. Spacey won the Golden Globe for Best Actor in a Television Series Drama in 2015. His co-star, Robin Wright, won for Best Actress in a Television Series Drama in 2014.

House of Cards Season 5 star Kevin Spacey, Robin Wright, Michael Kelly, Jayne Atkinson, Neve Campbell, Derek Cecil, Patricia Clarkson, Dominique McElligott, Paul Sparks, Boris McGiver, Joel Kinnaman, and Campbell Scott.

House of Cards Season 5 premieres on Netflix on May 30.
