Voltron: The Legendary Defender Season 3 To Premiere At SDCC

07/01/2017 04:09 pm EDT

Voltron: The Legendary Defender is headed back to Netflix soon, but fans will be able to catch the premiere episode much sooner.

Fans who make the trek to San Diego Comic-Con will bel able to catch the premiere episode of the anticipated series before anyone else (via AnimeNewsNetwork). The panel will include executive producers Joaquim Dos Santos and Lauren Montgomery, along with actors Bex Taylor-Klaus and Tyler Labine.

Fans can meet the crew in person during an autograph signing session on July 21st or can take part in a Voltron Cosplay and Fan Meetup on July 20th, so there's something for everyone who attends the show.

There's plenty to look forward to in season 3, including a new villain for the Voltron crew to take on in Prince Lotor. Lotor takes over the Empire after Emperor Zarkon's defeat, who also happened to be his father. Needless to say, he's taken things a bit personally.

Other mysteries include what happened to the Voltron Force's leader Shiro, who vanished along with King Zarkon during their battle. Whether he will reenter the picture at some point remains to be seen, but this could pave the way for Keith to take over the group's leadership role, which would also allow Princess Allura a larger role.

You can view the synopsis for season 2 below.

Team Voltron has been scattered throughout the universe in the aftermath of a perilous battle with Zarkon, Haggar and the evil Galra Empire. Working to bring the lions back together to form Voltron again, the Paladins' plan to defeat the Galra once and for all takes them across the universe in search of new worlds and unexpected allies.

Voltron: Legendary Defender is animated by Studio Mir, the production studio behind The Legend of Korra. Dos Santos, fellow executive producer Lauren Montgomery, and head writer Tim Hedrick all worked together on Avatar: The Last Airbender.

Voltron: Legendary Defender's voice cast includes Steven Yeun (The Walking Dead) as Keith, Jeremy Shada (Adventure Time) as Lance, Bex Taylor-Klaus (Arrow) as Pidge, Josh Keaton (Green Lantern: The Animated Series) as Shiro (formerly "Sven" in the original Voltron series), Tyler Labine (Tucker and Dale vs. Evil) as Hunk, Kimberly Brooks (Mass Effect) as Princess Allura, Rhys Darby (Flight of the Conchords) as Coran, and Neil Kaplan (Transformers: Robots in Disguise) as King Zarkon.

Voltron: The Legendary Defender season 3 will debut on Netflix on August 4th.
