Voltron: Legendary Defender Clip Reveals A New Paladin

The Voltron Force may have been down a paladin after Shiro's disappearance, but this exclusive Voltron: Legendary Defender Season Three clip from Netflix shows how the team returns to full force.

In the clip, Keith has taken over as the pilot of the Black Lion and leader of the Voltron Force. However, that's left the team without a pilot for the Red Lion. The clip above shows what happens when the Blue Lion mysteriously shuts down on Lance while the rest of the Voltron Force are doing battle with the forces of Prince Lotor, who has taken over leadership of the Galra Empire in place of his father, Emperor Zarkon.

The lion shuffling that goes on in the third season of Voltron: Legendary Defender mirrors the same team recalibration that occurred in the original Voltron series when Shiro (or Sven, as he was called in the English translation) was injured and became unable to pilot the Black Lion.

The third season of Voltron: Legendary Defender finds Prince Lotor rallying the Galra Empire after Zarkon's defeat. With an unpredictable new enemy on the horizon, the galaxy desperately needs Voltron. But the paladins struggle to find their bearings without Shiro. Can they come together in time to fight Lotor?

Lotor is only one problem facing the Voltron Force in the show's third season. In Season Two, Keith was revealed to be of Galra blood and now owes allegiance to the Galra resistance group called the Blade of Marmora. Princess Allura discovered that Hagar, the witch who has aided King Zarkon's conquest and created his deadliest monsters, was also an Altean. Flashbacks hinted at Zarkon's fall from being the first Black Paladin to becoming a galactic tyrant, and Pidge's family is still imprisoned somewhere in the Galra Empire.

Voltron: Legendary Defender is animated by Studio Mir, the production studio behind The Legend of Korra. Dos Santos, fellow executive producer Lauren Montgomery, and head writer Tim Hedrick all worked together on Avatar: The Last Airbender.

The third season of Voltron: Legendary Defender is now streaming on Netflix. New episodes of Voltron: Legendary Defender will arrive on Oct. 13, 2017.
