While Guardians of the Galaxy slipped to third place at this weekend's box office, the film managed to reach two other milestones as expected. Guardians of the Galaxy officially crossed the $300 million mark at the U.S box office and $600 million at the worldwide box office.

According to official estimates, Guardians of the Galaxy now stands at a total of $305.9 million at the U.S box office and $611.5 million at the worldwide box office. The film just opened in Japan this weekend, which should help to boost its international box office in the coming days. Guardians of the Galaxy has yet to open in either China or Italy. The film will open in China on October 10 and in Italy on October 22.

Over the weekend, Guardians of the Galaxy took in an additional $8 million at the U.S. box office. The film finished third to a pair of new releases. Idris Elba's No Good Deed finished first with $24.5 million at the U.S. box office, which was a huge win for a film with a $13 million budget. Dolphin Tale 2 finished second with $16.5 million at the U.S. box office.
