Another trailer for Avengers: Age of Ultron, another batch of questions raised. The latest trailer is packed full of action, humor, and villainous monologue, plus tons of new footage that has us wondering what exactly is going on.
Here are the burning questions raised by the trailer that we most want answered.
1. What is the castle in the mountains?
This appears to be Ultron's new hideout. Was there a reason he chose this location, or does it just really nail the open concept floor plan he was looking for?
2. What is Tony Stark planning to do with Loki's scepter?
Before settling on Iron Man, Tony Stark briefly considered going by Captain Hubris, so he's most likely planning to do something that everyone will later regret. Then again, that's kind of the whole plot of Avengers: Age of Ultron, isn't it?
3. What is Ultron unplugging himself from?
Given his origin story in the film, and tone of the scene, I would guess that this is Ultron unlatching himself from Stark's system. It could, however, come from later on in the movie, where Ultron is uploading date or some other such thing.
4. Will they, or won't they?
Sorry Natasha and Bruce, you can't hide from us. We see you two making eyes with each other. Fans of Joss Whedon's television work know that he has a thing for doomed romances between a hero a person with a terrible monster caged inside of them (coughBuffy&Angelcough), so it should be interesting to see this one pan out.
5. Where'd you get that shiny Gem, Vision?
Hmm, that's an awfully shiny gem/stone in Vision's forehead, Vision being a character notable for being an android with a soul. Could we be looking at another Infinity Stone, perhaps the Soul Stone?
Bonus question worth re-asking: Why are Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch working with Ultron again?
This question has been raised in previous footage, but I'd very much like to know what Ultron has on the Twins that they've agreed to work with him despite his very plainly laid out plans to wipe all of humanity off of the face of the planet.
Honorable Mention: DID he have to ask?
The laws of Whedon dialog dictate that yes, Thor did indeed have to ask, in order to create perhaps the most Whedonesque moment we've seen from the movie so far.
Avengers: Age of Ultron opens May 1.
