Steve Zahn Cast As New Ape In War For The Planet Of The Apes

Steve Zahn (Treme, Dallas Buyers Club) will monkey around on the set of War For the Planet of the Apes, according to The Wrap.

Zahn will be slipping into a motion-capture suit for this role as the 47-year-old actor will be playing a new ape in the film. No further details were provided. He joins a cast that includes Andy Serkis, Gabriel Chavarria and Woody Harrelson.

Matt Reeves, who directed Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, is set to return. He co-wrote the script with screenwriter Mark Bomback. Filming is expected to begin sometime soon and take place in Vancouver.

War For the Planet of the Apes is scheduled for release on July 14, 2017.
