No matter how long the project goes without new news, it seems all of they key players are determined to one day make a Top Gun 2.
The first film, which starred Tom Cruise, Val Kilmer, Tim Robbins and more, was directed by Tony Scott, who was reportedly developing a sequel with producer Jerry Bruckheimer, Cruise and Kilmer at the time of Scott's death in 2012.
Late last year, Kilmer made waves with a public statement that seemed to indicate the project was farther along than it turned out to actually be.
"We will all miss Tony Scott," Kilmer said on social media at the time. "One of the kindest gentlemen I've ever met in the film biz, but let's fire up some fighter jets again!!! This is a long way off so calm down. This has been talked about for a long long time and being offered a role is very different from doing a role. I jumped the gun with my post. I jumped the topgun... An innocent mistake. It was just such a wonderful phone call with my agent..."
This week, though it's producer Bruckheimer who's teasing the sequel -- saying that he traveled to New Orleans to meet with Tom Cruise about the film:

Top Gun 2 is currently in development with no director, summary, or timetable.
