TV Ratings: 'Riverdale' Flat in Wednesday's Return, 'The X-Files' Ticks Up

While The CW enjoyed a monster night on Tuesday with the Trial of The Flash and the series premiere of Black Lightning, Riverdale couldn't bring the network as much success on Wednesday.

In its midseason premiere, Riverdale returned fairly flat, gaining just 1.45 million overall viewers, and scoring a 0.5 rating in the 18-49 demographic. Despite the lower numbers in the spring premiere, Riverdale has been a solid performer for The CW this season, after gaining traction from Netflix users over the summer.

Following up Riverdale, the Dynasty reboot had an even rougher night. With only 640K viewers, and a 0.2 demo rating, the new episode delivered one of the show's smallest audiences yet.

The "final" season of The X-Files has been a steady performer for FOX this season, including this week's new episode. With 3.9 million viewers, the series dropped a few eyeballs, but its 1.1 demo rating as slightly up from last week. FOX's 9-1-1 (6.2 mil/1.8) proved once again to be a major success for the network, and it's easy to see why it was given a second season so quickly.

Over on NBC, the 100th episode of The Blacklist (6.5 mil/1.1) drew its biggest audience since May of 2016, while Law & Order: SVU (6.2 mil/1.4) and Chicago PD (6.6 mil/1.4) both ticked up.

ABC's comedy line-up was solid this week, with The Goldbergs (6.5 mil/1.7), Modern Family (6.2 mil/1.8), Speechless (4.8 mil/1.3) and American Housewife (5 mil/1.3) were all up, while Match Game (3.3 mil/0.8) was even.

Finally, on CBS, The Amazing Race (6.8 mil/1.5) drew the biggest audience of the night. SEAL Team (6.6 mil/1.1) rose a bit while Criminal Minds (5.6 mil/1.0) was flat.
