It’s official. The Dark Knight Rises has just joined the billion dollar club. According to the latest box office tallies, The Dark Knight Rises has made $1.005 billion at the worldwide box office.
Not only does this push The Dark Knight Rises up to number twelve on the all time worldwide box office list, but it also makes The Dark Knight Rises the highest grossing Batman movie of all time at the worldwide box office. The Dark Knight Rises has surpassed The Dark Knight, which ended its worldwide box office run with $1.003 billion.
A lot of The Dark Knight Rises success has come at the international box office, as the film actually trails The Dark Knight at the U.S. box office. The Dark Knight Rises has made $574 million internationally and $431.2 million domestically. Batman also now joins Pirates Of The Caribbean as being one of only two franchises to have two movies over a billion dollars at the worldwide box office. Quite an accomplishment given that only thirteen movies total have made over a billion dollars at the worldwide box office.
