The Veronica Mars movie has officially been greenlit by Warner Bros., according to former Veronica Mars and Party Down showrunner Rob Thomas, who will direct the film. "Hallelujah! It's a green light my friends. I love you all, but particularly the donors among you," Thomas tweeted yesterday when the campaign passed the $2 million mark. Seriously. VM fans best in world. So grateful. Particularly me. Kristen less fond of fans. Dunno why." Earlier today, The Today Show was with Thomas, filming as he watched the campaign roll past the $3 million mark, as well--with 29 days still remaining in the campaign, it doesn't seem outside of the realm of possibility they'll pass at least $5 million and possibly closer to $10 million, in spite of the typical tapering off that happens with this kind of project on Kickstarter. In other news, Percy Daggs III, who played Veronica's long-suffering best friend Wallace on the UPN/CW series, has committed to returning to reprise his role in the film, telling TMZ he was "honored to be a part of this continuing story." While Daggs was mentioned on the Kickstarter page and so widely expected to return, he didn't appear in the promotional video in support of the Kickstarter, which is the closest thing to "official" casting that's yet been released, outside of a promise that Bell is in. The video featured Ryan Hansen, Jason Dohring and Enrico Colantoni, who played Dick Casablancas, Logan Echolls and Keith Mars, respectively.
