Captain America The Winter Soldier Box Office

There seems to be some debate on early projections for the opening weekend box office for Captain America: The Winter Soldier, but there is one thing that everyone appears to be in agreement on. Captain America: The Winter Solider will set a new opening weekend record for the month of April. The current April opening weekend record is held by Fast Five, which opened to around $86.2 million back in 2011. According to early projections, Captain America: The Winter Soldier will finish with an opening day box office of between $35 million to $39 million on Friday. The huge Friday opening day should put Captain America: The Winter Soldier on track for between $90 million to $100 million for its opening weekend. However, one thing to keep in mind is that Marvel Studios movies virtually always exceed early projections. When box office experts make early projections, they usually base it on the traditional pattern that the movie industry as a whole follows after a Friday opening. In the cast of Marvel Studios films, they have a stronger appeal to families than most movies. With school still in session, many families likely couldn't make it to opening day for Captain America: The Winter Soldier, which means they will attend Saturday or Sunday showings. We're predicting that the Saturday and Sunday numbers come in higher than what most are projecting, especially considering the film is getting excellent reviews and generation strong buzz. We wouldn't be surprised if the final opening weekend numbers for Captain America: The Winter Soldier are more in the $100 million to $110 million range than the $90 million to $100 million that most are currently projecting. However, even if Captain America: The Winter Soldier does come in on the low side of expectations, it will still break the opening weekend record for April.
