The CW has released the first full (2-minute) trailer for next week's four-show Invasion! crossover event.
The trailer, which focuses on the alien race known as the Dominators and their mysterious agenda, also gives a few hints as to just what the heroes will be facing when they square off against an alien armada -- and why it requires such a huge show of force on the part of Earth's metahuman community.
The aliens take on soldiers (in the past?), superheroes...and at one point, Oliver Queen is in some kind of stasis pod.
(Could that be the glowing red object beside a Dominator in this previous teaser?)
Arrow, The Flash, and Supergirl will cross over with DC's Legends of Tomorrow next month in "Invasion!" a three-part crossover that starts in the final moments of an episode of Supergirl and then plays through the other series.
Based on the 1988 comic book event miniseries Invasion! from Keith Giffen, Bill Mantlo, Todd McFarlane, Bart Sears, and more, the event will closely track the plot of that storyline: aliens will be assembled by The Dominators and descend on Earth to bring an end to the "threat" of Earth's burgeoning metahuman community. Of course, they've also got plans of their own -- to use humanity's "metagene" to create a super-race of Dominators who can cow even the most powerful of alien races into submission.
In the TV version, rather than assembling a loose alliance of dangerous alien races, the Dominators will apparently be mind-controlling the aliens that join them. That's a revelation that led EW to hint even the heroes might be forced to take one another on at some point in the story.
Supergirl airs Mondays at 8 p.m. ET/PT; The Flash on Tuesdays at the same time; Arrow on Wednesdays and DC's Legends of Tomorrow on Thursdays. All four series air on The CW. The "Invasion!" crossover will air beginning November 28.
