Recently, the teaser trailer for Disney's live action adaptation of Beauty and The Beast became the most watched teaser trailer in a 24-hour period. Basically, no other movie teaser has had more views in its first day online than Beauty and The Beast.
This weekend, another teaser came very close to beating that record.
Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2 debuted its first teaser during the ACC Football Championship game on Saturday night, and the internet exploded. Within just 24 hours, the video was viewed over 81 million times.
Guardians director James Gunn took to Facebook to thank his fans, and the folks at Marvel and Disney, for all of the support surrounding the franchise.
This is no surprise, as the Guardians Vol. 2 trailer gave fans many of the things they had been asking for since the sequel was announced. The footage showed Drax being the comedic relief of the film, plenty of epic action, a first look at Mantis, and a whole lot of Baby Groot.
The film takes place after the events of Guardians Of The Galaxy, and the team begins taking on numerous missions throughout space. The threat of Thanos is still looming large over their heads, and Gamora is especially worried about the villain, given that he's her step-father. Peter Quill is as sarcastic as ever, but he's still struggling with his own issues. While trying to hide his true feelings for Gamora, he is also on a quest to discover the true identity of his father.
Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2 hits theaters on May 5, 2017.
