Dragon Ball Super Will Debut New Opening Theme Song Next Spring

If you are a fan of Dragon Ball Super, then you better be looking forward to the new year. 2017 promises to bring all-new adventures to the acclaimed anime, and fans learned today that a new theme for Dragon Ball Super will debut as well. Right now, Shonen Jump is hosting its annual Jump Festa in Tokyo, and Dragon Ball Super confirmed it would release a new opening next spring.

The new theme song will coincide with the release of a new saga known as the 'Universal Survival' arc. The opening theme will be called 'Limit-Break x Survivor.' Kiyoshi Hikawa will perform the song while Takafumi Iwasaki composes. Lyrics were penned by franchise veteran Yukinojō Mori.

Currently, Dragon Ball Super kicks off its episodes with a track by Kazuya Yoshii. The song is called "Chōzetsu ☆ Dynamic!" and was even sold as a CD single last October after the series premiered that summer.

If you haven't been keeping up with Dragon Ball Super news, then you should know that the shonen is about to undergo a storyline shift. Recently, Toei Animation confirmed a new saga would being in February, and you can check out its synopsis below:

"At Goku's request, the Omni-Kings' "Tournament of Power" martial arts tournament between universes now begins! …But this also proves to be the beginning of universal destruction. What awaits the victors of this tournament, and the vanquished…?! How will these intense team battles between the elites of each universe turn out…?!"

A key visual was als released for the "Universal Survival" saga, and it shows a slew of familiar characters. Both Omni-Kings came be seen along with the Great Priest and Universe 7's warriors. The powerful team houses fighters like Goku, Kuririn, Androids 17 & 18, Goku, Gohan, Vegeta, Piccolo, and more.

The official Dragon Ball Super website commented further on the sage with a short message from producer Shunki Hashizume. "Dragon Ball Super enters its new chapter, the "Universe Survival Arc". As you can see from the main visual, it'll be a full-throttle story where Goku and the rest of the Universe 7 warriors form a team to take on a tournament between universes!" he wrote.

"Artificial Human No. 17 and Majin Boo are there too, so personally I can't contain my excitement at the thought of what kind of fights we'll see! Look forward to this new chapter that'll be sure to feature super-intense battles with nonstop appearances by the elites of each universe!"

As for its start date, the new sage is slated to premiere on February 5, 2017. The "Universal Survival" saga will be part of the recent simulcast agreement that sites like Crunchyroll and Funimation have scored.
