A Surprising Comrade Of Naruto's Will Play A Big Role In The Boruto Anime

In less than a month, Naruto is set to undergo a major shift. After more than a decade, the franchise will bid farewell to its long-running anime Naruto Shippuden as the anime enters its final epilogue episodes. However, fans should not be too distraught over the end. Studio Pierrot has been hard at work on a spin-off anime for Naruto which focuses on the next generation of Konoha ninja.

On April 5, Boruto: Naruto Next Generation will make its debut on TV Tokyo. The series is slated to introduce fans to the children of Konoha's original rookies as heroes like Naruto, Sakura, and Sasuke are all parents now. These so-called legendary characters will weave in and out of the show, giving fans context about the new ninjas and the chips on their shoulders. But, for one Naruto alumnus, they will see their role expanded in the Boruto anime.

Recently, the chief director of the spin-off title spoke with Animedia about Boruto and its charms. It was there that Noriyuki Abe was asked about which characters fans should look forward to seeing in the anime - and his answer will surprise you.

Here's a hint: the guy really loves bugs.

Yes, that's right! Boruto is set to show off more of Shino Aburame's personality when it hits television. The clan ninja helped make up Team 8 way back when alongside Hinata Hyuga and Kiba Akamaru. And, now, he will be a resident mentor to Boruto at Konoha's ninja academy.

"Where he has ended up at and what sort of connections he will have with Boruto is something to look forward to," Abe said about Shino. The chief director also told fans Boruto's classmates would be focal characters as well.

So far, there's no details about how Shino's relationship with Boruto may evolve, but the hot-headed ninja will likely clash with Shino's demure personality. And, of course, fans should expect Konohamaru to be a bit jealous of Shino's in with Boruto. After all, there's no telling how much the ninja may have wanted to be Boruto's own version of Iruka-sensei.

You can check out the synopsis for Boruto: Naruto Next Generation below:
