Dragon Ball Super's New Arc Opening Theme Song Previewed

Dragon Ball Super fans, it's time to sound off to the tune of a brand-new theme song. Next month, the acclaimed anime will usher in its anticipated 'Universal Survival' arc, and fans all over the world are ready to see the saga kick off. When the new era begins, the anime will also be gifted with its second opening, and Toei Animation is ready to get fans hyped for the release. Not long ago, a Japanese talk show was lucky enough to preview the new Dragon Ball Super song, and it has got fans grooving.

The song is called "Limit-Break x Survivor" and is performed by Kiyoshi Hikawa. Takafumi Iwasaki composed the track while franchise veteran Yukinojō Mori penned its lyrics. The new theme song will replace the original one produced by Kazuya Yoshii. The song "Chōzetsu ☆ Dynamic!" helped bring Dragon Ball Super to fans' homes when the anime debuted in 2015, and now a new song will help the anime reach even further.

Over on Twitter, fan-translator Todd Blankenship has already started working on translations for the new theme. So far, the song's lyrics translate into "Scream! Heno-heno kappa / The invincible me is waiting there / The door possibility is still locked."

In February, Dragon Ball Super's story arc is set to kick off with the 'Universal Survival' saga. You can check out the brief synopsis for it below:

"At Goku's request, the Omni-Kings' "Tournament of Power" martial arts tournament between universes now begins! …But this also proves to be the beginning of universal destruction. What awaits the victors of this tournament, and the vanquished…?! How will these intense team battles between the elites of each universe turn out…?!"

As for its start date, the new sage is slated to premiere on February 5, 2017. The "Universal Survival" saga will be part of the recent simulcast agreement that sites like Crunchyroll and Funimation have scored. Dragon Ball Super airs on Crunchyroll Saturdays at 7:15 p.m. CST. Toonami will begin airing the English dub on Adult Swim Saturdays at 11:30 p.m.
