New Dragon Ball Z Ride At Universal Studios Will Feature An Original Story

Dragon Ball Super may be all the rage these days, but Dragon Ball Z isn't going out without a fight. The anime series are two of the medium's most to date, and Universal Studios Japan is helping bring the former back to life. This summer, the theme park will be hosting an anime-themed program which borrows from Gintama and more. And, when it comes to Dragon Ball Z, the series will be getting a brand-new story for its ride.

The official website for Universal Studios Japan recently announced that its Dragon Ball Z 4-D attraction will feature an all-new story. The attraction's name has also been revealed, and it will be called "Dragon Ball Z: The Real 4-D at Super World Martial Arts Tournament." The attraction will host a high-tech feature film that'll see Goku fight a mysterious foe. More details about the project are set to be released in May.

If you are a fan of Dragon Ball Z, then you will be familiar with the World Martial Arts Tournament. The event is one which occurs several times in the franchise, and Goku has always had terrible luck at the place. The last time anime fans saw the martial arts tournament was in Dragon Ball GT.

Dragon Ball Z won't be the only anime getting an attraction this summer at Universal Studio Japan. One Piece will get a live-show at the park while JoJo's Bizarre Adventure also gets a 4-D ride. Gintama will also get a live talk event. The theme park is set to host the anime events between June 30 and October 1.

Right now, several anime attractions are already at Universal Studios Japan. Attack on Titan has a 4-D movie at the park as well as Godzilla. Neon Genesis Evangelion, Monster Hunter, and Detective Conan have also been gifted attractions at the popular vacation spot.

For some fans, their visit to Dragon Ball Z's new 4-D ride will be the second one they have experienced. Universal Studios Japan hosted a ride inspired by the anime last year, and the 4-D attraction saw Goku go head-to-head with Freeza.

Dragon Ball Super's "Universal Survival" saga is part of the recent simulcast agreement that sites like Crunchyroll and Funimation have scored. Dragon Ball Super airs on Crunchyroll Saturdays at 7:15 p.m. CST. Toonami will begin airing the English dub on Adult Swim Saturdays at 11:30 p.m.
