Anime fans, get ready to watch some very promising mecha pilots get tossed in a ringer! The second season of Mobile Suit Gundam Thunderbolt is nearly here, and the series is set to thrust fans back into the gritty timeline of the One Year War. After its new season was ordered last year, Mobile Suit Gundam Thunderbolt is now teasing fans with its impending premiere in a big way. Not long ago, a new trailer for the show dropped online, and the jazzy clips is packed with plenty of action.

While the new promotional video lacks the full-out thrills of the first trailer, this clip does highlight more characters from the anime. Leads like Daryl and Io can be seen in a montage sequence. And, at the end, the latter's mobile suit can be seen navigating its way through space. The RX-78AL prototype can be seen with all its shiny upgrades.

If you are not familiar with Mobile Suit Gundam Thunderbolt, then you should know the spin-off series debuted in December 2015 and wrapped in April 2016. The show was met with positive reviews, so fans were hopeful a second season would debut.

The series is set concurrently with the original Mobile Suit Gundam series. The story follows pilots during the One Year War as the Earth Federation's Moore Brotherhood fends off the Principality of Zeon's Living Dead Division. The latter organization has declared their independence from the Earth Federation, and they've laid waste to humanity with its destructive mobile suits.

In Mobile Suit Gundam Thunderbolt, the series specifically focuses on the skirmishes between Moore and Zeon in one wayward area known as the 'Thunderbolt Sector'. The seedy zone is a lawless one littered with space debris and abandoned colonies, but the Zeon Division covets the route because of its trade possibilities. However, Moore is not giving up the territory without a fight, and pilot Io Fleming takes on Zeon's Daryl Lorenz without mercy.
