New Yu-Gi-Oh! Anime Series Delayed

Yu-Gi-Oh! fans, you will want to brace yourselves for this one. This year, news broke that a brand-new anime was joining the franchise's extensive canon once Yu-Gi-Oh! Arc-V wraps. The upcoming series, which is titled Yu-Gi-Oh! VRAINS, was teased to fans thanks to some sleek visuals and a premiere date. But, now, it looks like the folks behind the series need a bit more time to get the show ready. Thanks to recent reports, fans have just learned that the upcoming anime has officially been delayed.

In the most recent issue of Weekly Shonen Jump, fans learned that TV Tokyo has moved the premiere of Yu-Gi-Oh! VRAINS from April to May. The show will now air on Wednesdays. And, before the anime makes it debut, a special titled Yu-Gi-Oh!Labo will screen on April 5 to promote the show.

On top of that, the magazine also gave fans another story teaser about the anime. While the show's lead has already been introduced to fans, Weekly Shonen Jump was able to announce the names of two more duelists from the series: Gō Onizuka and Aoi Zaizen.

Of course, many fans are disappointed that Yu-Gi-Oh! VRAINS has been bumped back a month, but there is little surprised attached to the decision. With April just a couple weeks away, fans suspected the anime would be pushed back given TV Tokyo's lack of promotions. No trailers or clips for the title have been shared as of yet while other contemporary releases like Attack on Titan and Boruto: Naruto Next Generations have debuted PVs. For now, fans can look forward to new Yu-Gi-Oh! footage as April draws near and promotions begin ramping up for the franchise's television special.

Yu-Gi-Oh! VRAINS is slated to introduce a brand-new style of dueling to the franchise when it does hit television. The tech-savvy series will see its leads go card-to-card in virtual reality arenas which bring fearsome Duel Monsters to life. Yūsaku Fujiki will act as the show's protagonist, and the character is said to be a shy one. The talented player is described as a wallflower, but his hacking skills and strategic mind are unparalleled. Whenever Fujiki enters a duel, the character undergoes both a physical and mental transformation. The result leaves the boy with very colorful hair and a strong will to win his duels.

The anime will also introduce new characters to the series. The flagship Duel Monster of Yu-Gi-Oh! VRAINS will be Decode Talker, a robotic creature who carries a massive sword. So, it looks like Yugi's go-to Dark Magician may want to take note of the familiar-looking monster.
