Daredevil Season 3 Filming Later This Year

Netflix is gearing up for its anticipated Defenders series, as they recently released a new teaser. Netflix and Marvel didn't stop there, though, and courtesy of actor Charlie Cox fans now have a much better idea of when they will finally be getting a season 3 in the show that started it all.

Cox guested on the "Film and Telly Stuff With Luke And Al" radio show (via MCU Exchange), and when asked about the popular show he said "I do that later in the year. We'll go back and do that." Earlier this year a teaser was released for the show, but no release date was given. This week Marvel and Netflix have been revealing more of their long-term plans, with Jessica Jones also getting the green light for filming.

The second season of Daredevil was immensely well received, in part thanks to its perfect portrayals of Elektra (Elodie Yung) and the Punisher (Jon Bernthal). While it's unknown when (or if) Elektra will make her return to the universe, Punisher will be back much sooner, as his solo Netflix series is already filming. Who knows, he might even make a cameo in the defenders, which will bring together Daredevil, Luke Cage (Mike Colter), Jessica Jones (Krysten Ritter), and the most recent addition to the team Iron Fist (Finn Jones).

Daredevil season 3 will take place after the Defenders, so it is unknown who the main protagonist will be. There's always the chance that the Kingpin could return, but everyone's been anticipating a Netflix Marvel take on arguably Daredevil's greatest adversary, Bullseye. This would be the perfect opportunity to introduce the villain, as the Netflix series can gradually introduce him and really deliver on the character's potential. Daredevil currently enjoys a 91.69 score on ComicBook.com's composite rankings.

Daredevil stars Charlie Cox, Deborah Ann Woll, Elden Henson, Rosario Dawson, Elodie Yung, Jon Bernthal, Stephen Rider, Vincent D'Onofrio, Toby Leonard Moore, Vondie Curtis-Hall, and Royce Johnson.

Daredevil seasons 1 and 2, Jessica Jones season 1, Luke Cage season 1, and Iron Fist season 1 are all available on Netflix now. The Defenders releases on August 8, 2017. The Punisher, Jessica Jones season 2, and Daredevil season 2 do not have release dates yet.
