Carrie Fisher Was Working On A Sequel To Wishful Drinking

Carrie Fisher, the iconic actress who brought Star Wars' Leia Organa to life, passed away today at the age of 60. While she was best-known for playing Leia, Fisher was also known for her writing, and that included Wishful Drinking, her autobiographical one-woman stage show that aired as a documentary on HBO and was turned into a memoir.
IndieWire has now learned that, just prior to the heart attack that would lead to her death, Getty Playhouse commissioned Fisher to produce a sequel titled Wishful Drinking Strikes Back: From Star Wars to, uh, Star Wars! The title is, obviously, a play on Star Wars: Episode V – The Empire Strikes Back and a reference to Fisher's return to the star wars universe 30 years after the conclusion of the original Star Wars trilogy for Star Wars: The Force Awakens.
Fisher was to re-team with Wishful Drinking director Josh Ravetch on the project. The two were meant to meet today to begin work Wishful Drinking Strikes Back.
Fisher suffered a heart attack while on a flight from London to Los Angeles. Another flight passenger administered CPR to Fisher. Once the plane landed, Fisher was immediately rushed to a hospital.
Upon arriving at the hospital, Fisher's condition was said to be "not good." Fisher's brother has released periodic updates on his sister's status. Fisher was reportedly stable for a time, then moved to the hospital's intensive care unit. She finally passed away this morning.
It has been reported that Fisher completed filming her role as Leia in Star Wars: Episode VIII prior to her death. Star Wars: Episode VIII will release in theaters in December 2017.
