No Star Wars Celebration in 2018, Next One In 2019

Fans only have to wait a few more weeks before the festivities of Star Wars Celebration 2017 kick off April 13-16, but ReedPop has already announced when the next Celebration will take place. Thanks to all of the new Star Wars films being released, fans have grown accustomed to the incredible conventions taking place every year, but with Celebration skipping 2018, fans will have to wait until 2019 to get their fix.

According to ReedPop:

"Celebration is the official, definitive Star Wars event, with entertainment, interactive experiences and exclusives that can only be found at this Lucasfilm production. They are the ultimate community fan gathering as well, and friends will want to start planning to be together again to commemorate everyone's favorite saga. The next official Celebration is slated for a location and date soon-to-be announced, in 2019."

This year's festivities should be a massive experience, with Star Wars: The Last Jedi coming in December, Star Wars: Rebels Season 4 coming this fall, and Han Solo: A Star Wars Story coming in May. Also, this will be the first Celebration since the tragic passing of Carrie Fisher and Kenny Baker, two titans of the saga.

Another reason this Celebration will be like no other is that this year marks the 40th anniversary of Star Wars, which was released in theaters May 25, 1977. The weekend's festivities will kick off Thursday with a 40th-anniversary panel hosted by Warwick Davis, who has starred in all three trilogies and Rogue One, alongside Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy. The guests that will take part in the panel have yet to be announced, but will span the entire history of the saga, making it an event not to be missed.

With this being the only Celebration before the Han Solo film, is it possible we'll get a look at what we can expect next May? Having only recently started shooting, fans might have to wait until the Disney-centric D23 Convention, taking place later this summer.

The next Celebration will probably take place sometime between April and August, as has been the norm for previous events, but whether it will take place in the United States or overseas is anybody's guess.
