Star Wars: Episode VIII Footage Revealed In New BFI Academy Video

06/29/2017 04:46 pm EDT

With summer ramping up, Star Wars fans are getting more and more hyped new updates. Star Wars: The Last Jedi will rocket into theaters this winter, and the movie will see Rey finally study under Luke Skywalker in the ways of the Force. Now, a few new snippets from The Last Jedi have dropped, and they can be found in a training video for the BFI Film Academy.

The organization recently released a video documenting its trainees' work on The Last Jedi. The footage shows some of the academy's scouted talent, but it goes so far as to insert film snippets at the 3:50 mark. You can check out the reel above.

Looking at the snippets, fans will see some familiar scenes. Audiences are given a behind-the-scenes view of Rey running with a lit lightsaber clutched in her hand. The scene was shown for a moment in Lucasfilm's first teaser trailer for The Last Jedi. Other quick shots can be seen as the Millennium Falcon evades patterned Tie-Fighters. And, finally, an ominous shot of Captain Phasma can be seen marching through a field of fallen Rebel fighters with her Stormtroppers in tow.

So far, there have been little news about The Last Jedi since Star Wars Celebration went down in April. The event dropped the film's first footage upon fans, but it looks like another trailer could drop soon. Earlier this month, the British Board of Film Classification approved a new trailer for theatrical release. There is no telling whether the release will house recut footage or never-before-seen cuts from The Last Jedi. However, fans are hoping the latter is the cast and that Lucasfilm will show off the footage at either D23 or San Diego Comic Con next month.
