An official video game tie-in to the Norman Reedus-starring thriller, Air, is currently in the works from Sweedish Gaming developer Gaming Corp.

In production for a downloadable release via Steam, tablets, and hopefully consoles, the game would be released in an episodic format not unlike Telltale Game's Walking Dead video game series.

Air, which stars The Walking Dead's Norman Reedus, follows a post-apocalyptic Earth that has become inhabitable for human beings. Mankind's only chance for survival is to enter cryogenic sleeping chambers located in underground bunkers while the Earth's atmosphere is repaired. Reedus, along with Djimon Hounsou (Guardians of the Galaxy), will play characters tasked with maintaining the cryogenic facilities, waking up once every six months to repair any damages. But things go from bad to worse when Reedus' and Djimon's sleeping tanks break, forcing them to stay conscious in the toxic world.

While the tie-in video game will take place in the same universe as Air, it will not be a direct adaptation of the film. No word has been given on who the video game may star, or what type of gameplay it may feature, but Air co-writer Chris Cantamessa, who is also overseeing the game's production, offered a few hints.

"The game will have a more modern interpretation of the story-driven adventure game that has an element of puzzle solving and exploration," Cantamessa told Polygon. "And the game is introducing to that, an element of investigation and a mystery that needs to be solved that plays with the unfolding events. You'll need to use the various items and hints and clues you find.

The Air film is scheduled for a release sometime later this year. A release date for the game has not been announced yet.
