The speculation about when The Walking Dead's Negan will encounter Rick Grimes and his group of survivors has been huge on the Internet and the series alike. Did anyone count how many times his name was dropped in this Sunday's Knots Untie episode? That poor guy's ears must never stop ringing.
One thing that almost all of the Internet has had in common is claiming that the new character won't arrive until the season finale of the current season. Even the actors and producers have talked this way, until now.
The Walking Dead showrunner Scott Gimple is singing a bit of a different tune.
“There have been articles pinpointing exactly when Negan shows up, and that’s a bit disappointing, because they may not be entirely true,” Gimple tells TheWrap. “There’s kind of a build up. But you might even see him next episode. Absolutely. Well, sort of. Well, definitely. Well, maybe. Maybe not. But possibly.”
Though, we probably won't see Negan in the next episode, his arrival is certainly nearby. Knots Untie ended in parallel story point to issue number 96 of the comics. Negan arrives in issue 100. One has to wonder how the show could possibly fill four episodes without introducing the new character but, remember, this is The Walking Dead we're talking about.
The Walking Dead airs Sundays at 9 PM ET on AMC.
