Ben Affleck debuts as Batman in just about two weeks on the big screen in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. It's clear from his interview with EW that the importance isn't lost on him. When asked about what he'd say in regards to the legacy he'll leave on the over 75 year-old character, he said simply, "I wouldn't. I would leave that for other people to say."

Still, that doesn't mean he doesn't have hopes for his take on the Bat, most recently played to critical acclaim on the big screen by Christian Bale. Affleck's Batman is older, more seasoned, and yes, more worn down than Bale's ever became.

"What I wanted was to create a Batman that was sort of at the end of his rope physically and psychologically and emotionally, a guy who was beaten down by the world, a guy who was a little bit more of a slugger, who has more gray in his hair, and who was questioning whether the whole journey that he lived as Batman was in fact even worth it, given that he was not superhero, but now had to face a super-being, which none of the other Batmans had to confront in the movie world," Affleck said.

The actor gave all credit to what came directly before him, calling Christopher Nolan and Christian Bale's films "the defining Batman [movies] - so magnificent." However, those films put Batman in an isolated world, and now Affleck's has to confront beings with abilities beyond those of normal men.

"Having to confront that and having to deal with that is my contribution to the character," he said.

On TV, the DC Universe there has dealt with regular humans reacting to metahumans - people with powers - usually with some level of awe and humor. We have a feeling Affleck's Batman won't be much in awe of Superman, nor will he find much humor in his existence.

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice hits theaters March 25, 2016. Tickets are on sale now.
