Star Wars: The Force Awakens star Daisy Ridley is rumored to be in consideration for the role of Lara Croft in the upcoming Tomb Raider film reboot.

According to the Deadline report, there have been no official negotiations as of yet, and there is no offer on the table. Warner Bros. and MGM are trying to cast a pretty wide net to start with, but Ridley is on their radar.

The original Tomb Raider films, based on the long-running Eidos (now Square Enix) videogame series, starred Angelina Jolie as the adventurous archaeologist. The reboot has been in the planning stages for years while the studios struggled to come up with a creative direction. The success of the recent game franchise reboot is said to have provided some creative assistance for the series.

The 2013 game Tomb Raider had players take control of a much younger Lara on her first adventure. Her story continued in 2015's Rise of the Tomb Raider.

Landing the job would be huge for Ridley. There aren't many lead franchise roles for young women in Hollywood, even those with Star Wars on their resume, and the role is sure to be highly sought after. Ridley's performance in The Force Awakens certainly suggests that she's up to the task.
