It appears that superstar Alberto Del Rio will soon be exiting the WWE for the second time.
Del Rio is currently in the midst of a 30-day suspension for a violation of the Talent Wellness Policy, but people started to notice that even after his suspension was over, his appearance dates on WWE house shows have been removed. Sources close to the matter (via f4wonline) are saying the sides have worked out a deal in regards to his exit.
Del Rio was originally fired from the company after an altercation with an employee, who made a racist slur regarding the superstar. He went on to perform in Mexico and then eventually ended up on Lucha Underground under his El Patron alias. He made a surprise return at Hell in a Cell and beat John Cena clean, a miracle in and of itself, but since that initial uproar, his second run with the company has been rather docile.
That seems to be at the heart of his discontent with the WWE. According to those same sources, Del Rio (real name Jose Alberto Rodriquez) was promised a main event push by the powers that be but instead was entered into a dull at best MexAmerica storyline with Zeb Coulter. He was actually supposed to feud with Cena right after his debut, but that never materialized. Things were looking up for him when the company put together the League of Nations stable, but that also got stagnant rather quickly.
If he does leave, he would be able to work Internationally immediately, and stateside within a few weeks, but odds are he won't be going back to Lucha Underground either. It would be an unfortunate end to a run loaded with potential that ultimately turned out to be a waste of talent.
