A few days ago news hit that Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 would include The Elders of the Universe, but director James Gunn has shot those rumors down.

The original report from Schmoes Knows stated that the Elders of the Universe would be the source for Star-Lord's quest to search for his father and that the film would include four members total. Those would be The Collector, Ayesha, Sylvester Stallone's character, and Sharon Stone's character.

The director hopped on Twitter to officially put a close to those reports, saying: "Where do you guys get this nonsense? Who are all the people running around giving fake inside scoops to journalists?"

That doesn't mean they won't be looped in down the line though, as Jeff Goldblum's Grandmaster (Thor: Ragnarok) is actually a rogue elder, but it does mean that the group won't be playing a part in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2.

Fans can probably expect this to show up on his FAQ Facebook page at some point rather soon, along with inquiries like "Is Vin Diesel doing baby Groot's voice?" (yes) and that his favorite Marvel film outside of Guardians is, in fact, Iron Man. Yes, yes really, and yes even over Ant-Man responses are listed there as well.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 hits theaters on May 5, 2017.
