Casting the Marvel Comics Golden Girls
You wouldn't think the beloved Golden Girls would have much in common with the Marvel Universe. As [...]
Medusa As Dorothy Zbornak
While all the girls bring something to the table, Dorothy is the unquestioned backbone of the group. When she's not protecting her roommates interests, she's liable to let go an eviscerating sarcastic comment towards Rose and Blanche, though her best material is often saved for Sophia.
No one could fill this role better than the Inhumans Queen, Medusa. Medusa has a razor sharp wit, but often she doesn't even need to speak to get her point across. All it takes is a look for someone's knees to buckle, and she would perfectly embodies everything that is great about Dorothy.
prevnextSquirrel Girl As Rose Nylund
There can't be an easier casting decision than this one. Rose Nylund is often considered the heart of the Golden Girls, thanks to her odd stories, sweet nature, and her ability to take the snark everyone throws at her and make something positive out of it.
That also happens to describe Squirrel Girl to a tee, and when you add on that Rose has probably talked to a few squirrels over her lifetime (they are held in quite high regard in Saint Olaf mind you), well, it just writes itself.
prevnextWhite Queen As Blanche Devereaux
Blanche Devereaux has never been shy about flaunting her looks and sexuality and is quite comfortable in using it to her advantage when necessarily. Marvel's the White Queen (aka Emma Frost) is a kindred spirit in that way, and the two would probably get along quite well.
Actually, that might not be the case. Blanche loves the spotlight but indeed does not love sharing that spotlight with anyone, something she reminds Dorothy and Rose of on a daily basis. Emma Frost would certainly give her a run for her money, but it's doubtful that even the White Queen could rock that red hat and dress number nearly as well.
prevnextWolverine As Sophia Petrillo
While Dorothy might be the group's backbone, the most formidable member comes in a much smaller package. While she might be small in stature, she's as deadly as they come. Just ask the people that crossed her in Sicily
Sophia is liable to not only hit you with a frying pan or a toaster (just ask Stan) but when the physical attack isn't an option she'll just hit you with a Sicilian curse. Now, Wolverine doesn't have the Sicilian magic to rely on, but you don't often need magic when you have two sets of adamantium claws to do the work for you.
If there's chaos in the house, odds are Sophia is in the middle of it, and that's something Wolverine would probably enjoy.
