Along with today's announcement that there will be a new, female-led Thor title came the announcement that there was a major status quo change in the offing for the current Thor.

Thor, the immortal, Asgardian god of thunder, will be disgraced and judged unworthy to wield Mjolnir. Stripped of the hammer and his ceremonial costume, it's hard to say just what his new mission will be...but he's seen above (and in some teaser images elsewhere, albeit in shadows) wielding Jarnbjorn, the Dwarven forged battle axe wielded by Thor in his "unworthy" years in Thor: God of Thunder.

He also seems to have lost an arm, and had it replaced. Whether that will be tied to this axe or some other weapon isn't yet clear.

did he lose his arm or is it broken and he needs to wear magical armor to make sure it heals properly like when Hel cursed him and he had to wear the full platemail armor back in the original run of the comics?

While I would like to think it's just a cast like in the Simonson run, I hate to point out this but that's the same arm that King Thor (The future version of Thor from God of Thunder) has missing and replaced with part of the Destroyer.
