Captain America: Civil War may have put Bucky Barnes back into cryofreeze, but the hero found time to binge Game of Thrones before going under. During a recent interview, Sebastian Stan made a surprising comparison between his Marvel role and Jon Snow.
Stan sat down with MTV for an interview at the Toronto International Film Festival. The star was there to promote his work on I, Tanya, but the topic did shift to the star's other projects. It was there Stan said he sometimes felt like Jon Snow while on the set of Avengers: Infinity War.
"I feel a lot like that Jon Snow character [in] 'Battle of the Bastards.' When there's that shot of Jon Snow, from the back as horses are charging at him and he's just standing there - that's kind of how I feel on set at times. Will I make this stampede or not?"
Of course, fans can understand why Stan would feel trepidation about the third Avengers film. After all, the Russo Brothers have not been quite about how high the feature's stakes will get. The directors told MTV at San Diego Comic Con they firmly believe in actual stakes.
"I think fans should be prepared for some very intense surprises in these movies," Joe Russo explained. "My brother and I believe in stakes; I believe that everything has to come to an end at some point, in order for it to have value, and so I think the audience should be prepared."
Game of Thrones fans will be very familiar with high-stakes drama. The HBO series is known for killing off its characters on a whim, but the MCU has been more hesitant to off its characters. Avengers: Age of Ultron shocked fans will it killed Quicksilver, but the death has been one of the franchise's biggest to-date. With Thanos bearing down on Earth in Avengers: Infinity War, death will become a very real possibility for the MCU's biggest heroes, and the Winter Soldier is not guaranteed to make it.
Avengers: Infinity War drops May 4, 2018. The currently untitled Avengers 4 arrives May 3, 2019.
