Emily Kinney, star of AMC's The Walking Dead, is intrigued by the hypothetical romantic pairings fans will make between her character Beth and other characters on the show.

"I think that it's interesting that people are so quickly pairing people together when hardly anything will happen," she explained to Zap2it in a recent interview. "Compared to other shows, all we have to have is a look, and then all of the sudden there's all this, 'Oh my God, they must be in love with each other.' Someone earlier today asked me about Noah, like, 'Oh, is there something going on between you two?' I remember one time I gave Andy [Lincoln] a hug on the show, and it was like, 'Is anything going on between Beth and Rick?' Any little interaction, people eat it up because that is what life's about."

Kinney says she has a few theories as to why the shipping between characters take place.

"Life isn't just about surviving, it's about love and experiences and connecting with other people, and art and music," she said. "I do think you see the characters just starving for that. We're not just animals surviving in this apocalypse, we're human beings trying to make sense of our lives and to have some sort of purpose and enjoyment, and love is one of the biggest ways to feel connected to life and to feel like your time means something. I think it's cool that people see that, and who knows what will happen."

The Walking Dead airs Sundays at 9 p.m. ET/PT on AMC.
