Last year, Star Wars: The Force Awakens star Harrison Ford was injured during production in London. It was eventually revealed that Ford had broken his ankle after a hydraulic door malfunctioned, but what didn't come out was how director J.J. Abrams injured himself trying to help Ford after the accident.
Abrams told the story himself during an interview with Jon Stewart on The Daily Show, saying that he tried to lift the door off of Ford and heard a pop in his back. A visit to a doctor revealed that he had actually broken his back and he was forced to wear a back brace while filming on The Force Awakens continued.
"So I had this back brace on," Abrams recalls. "Harrison Ford, from across the stage, sprints at me faster than I will ever run."
