Disney Chairman Robert Iger has confirmed that there will be a new Indiana Jones film.

In a new video from Bloomberg News, Iger said that the movie was coming. There have been rumors almost since the day Disney acquired Lucasfilm, although in the early going Disney said that their primary focus was Star Wars and anything else would be a bonus.

You can check out the video below -- and Iger's comments at 7:20.

"With George Lucas's Star Wars -- and Indiana Jones, by the way, which will be coming, we have more great stories," Iger said. "And I think in a world where there's far more content and intellectual property and great choice, I think great stories still stand out."

While earlier rumors had suggested that Indiana Jones may be rebooted and recast, executive producer Steven Spielberg recently said that only Harrison Ford could do it.

Indiana Jones and the Package of Depends.

  1. If it's anything like "the Crystal Skull" count me out! If it gets back to it's Temple of Doom / Raiders of The Lost Ark roots then we'll be talking.

  2. Rumour has it that Indy will be murdered by his son Mutt, who after going mad goes on a killing spree and stabs his father to death. The Disney chairman expains this is necessary to the story and that it would be cowardly not to do it and also that he's fed up hearing the drama queen Harrison Ford whine about how Indy should have been killed in Temple of Doom. Happy New Year to all.

  3. As much as I love Harrison Ford, I doubt any actor can play the part as well as him, I think he is too old for the amount of action the movie needs to have. I think he should be recast and the movie should not be a reboot but instead make it like James Bond. Have it be just one story that is not connected to the other movies. I watched the James Bond movies out of order and I did not feel like I was missing anything from not seeing the films in order. I think Indiana Jones can be done the same way. Yes you can have some cast members in multiple movies, but no to making one big story. It is a simple concept have Indy be hired, want to look for, or fall into finding an artifact and have an adventure doing it.
